Start-up Visa

The Start-up Visa program targets entrepreneurs capable of building innovative businesses that are globally competitive and create jobs for Canadians. It requires support from a designated organization: a venture capital fund, an angel investor group, or a business incubator.

Main conditions

  • ✓Obtain a letter of support from a designated organization (venture capital fund, angel investor group or incubator)
  • ✓Collectively hold more than 50% of the voting rights of the qualifying business
  • ✓Meet the required language proficiency level (CLB 5 minimum)
  • ✓Have sufficient settlement funds to establish yourself in Canada
  • ✓The business must have its head office in Canada, with a significant share of activities conducted there

Open to candidates from most countries, unless otherwise stated or subject to specific consular restrictions.
