The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) includes several streams, including the Alberta Express Entry Stream (aligned with the federal pool), the Alberta Opportunity Stream (for workers already employed in Alberta), as well as streams for entrepreneurs and rural regions.

The AAIP streams
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is an economic immigration program run by the governments of Alberta and Canada. According to the official page, it includes four worker streams (Tourism and Hospitality, Alberta Opportunity, Alberta Express Entry and Rural Renewal) and four entrepreneur streams (Rural Entrepreneur, Graduate Entrepreneur, Farm and Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur).
The Alberta Express Entry stream includes dedicated pathways for health care professionals, technology workers and police occupations.
The process, from application to nomination
Most candidates in the worker streams must also meet Alberta job offer and employer requirements. Express Entry candidates are invited to apply for nomination. For the Rural Renewal stream, you need a job offer in a designated community and an endorsement letter from that community before applying.
Once nominated, the person can apply for permanent residence with their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children. IRCC processes these applications, and the Government of Canada makes the final decision.

Alberta offers an Eligibility Explorer tool, launched on June 17, 2026, which helps confirm eligibility and identify the suitable stream. An edit function for the worker expression of interest was added on May 26, 2026.
